Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit original, high-quality manuscripts that have not been published previously and are not under consideration by any other journal or publisher. Submissions should present a clear research objective, sound methodology, critical analysis, and well-supported conclusions. Manuscripts must be prepared in clear, scholarly language and should include a title, abstract, keywords, main text, and a complete list of references. Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all information, citations, and permissions for any copyrighted material included in their work.

All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo an initial editorial assessment followed by a rigorous peer-review process to evaluate their originality, academic merit, methodological quality, and relevance. Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewers’ comments before a final editorial decision is made. The journal adheres to the highest standards of publication ethics and expects authors to maintain academic integrity by avoiding plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, and other forms of research misconduct.

The journal follows a Diamond Open Access publishing model and does not charge any submission, processing, or publication fees. Authors retain the copyright of their published work, while articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) licence. By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that all co-authors have approved the submission, that any conflicts of interest and sources of funding have been disclosed where applicable, and that the manuscript complies with the journal’s ethical and editorial policies.

Copyright for all articles published in Studies and Research in Onomastics and Lexicology (SCOL) is retained by the author(s). By submitting and publishing their work in the journal, authors grant the journal the right of first publication and authorize the distribution of the published version under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) licence.
